| Guest | Vista connecting to a PC with XP SP1? Not possible? My boss just bought a new PC with vista home basic, they have a PC with XP SP 1 and I cannot get the vista PC to connect to the XP machine's printer. I know vista does not like connecting to printers on my windows 2000 server, any ideas? Thanks |

| Guest | Re: Vista connecting to a PC with XP SP1? Check the firewall in Vista. You have to explicitly allow file and print sharing. | Guest | Re: Vista connecting to a PC with XP SP1? I would have to say that you don't have a vista compatible driver for that printer. When you connect to a printer on another PC the Vista PC still has to have a driver for it. If there's not a compatible driver it simply wont work. | Guest | Re: Vista connecting to a PC with XP SP1? Apart from that, I found the upgrade to Vista killed all sorts of things I had set on the network including shares. Your printer on XP shows that it is shared, possibly but it may not actually be the same on Vista. It may need to be shared there.
