| | Text issues with WUXGA? I'm looking to purchase a 17" notebook, but what's stopping me is the choice between WSXGA and WUXGA. I'd like to get the WUXGA (1920x1200), but after seeing what this looked like in XP, I'm leery. I've heard that Vista handles the display of text more efficiently then XP. Is this true? |

I've been using a 1920x1200 screen for more than a year, in both XP and in Vista. I don't understand your concern for "seeing what this looked like in XP". It looked just fine to me in XP and it looks good on my new PC running Vista. The only thing I can think of is that the resolution is a little high for a 17inch screen (if its not set up properly everything is going to be tiny). Could you maybe give us all a little more detail on your concerns... |

| | Re: Text issues with WUXGA? Wendy, I don't think we're talking about a Vista vs XP issue. I'm using 1680x1050 on a 22" widescreen on Vista. It doesn't look any different than it did on XP. However, if I tried to put it on a resolution higher than the 'native' resolution of my monitor, it would look real wierd. I did a great deal of research on monitors while I was looking, and saw no 17" LCDs that would do 1920x1200. I also researched notebooks, as I was buying one. Most 17" notebooks had a 'native' resolution of 1440x900. You can 'overdrive' them to higher resolution, but they look real bad. In fact, I didn't see any under 24" that would. (Now, that would look nice) John "CrimLiar" <crimliar@dontevenbothertrying.com> wrote in message news:%23oJGtA6THHA.4260@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > "Wendy Kelly Budd" <Wendy Kelly Budd@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > message news:36CF7238-0DDB-40EF-9206-B3BFA4FEB80A@microsoft.com... >> I'm looking to purchase a 17" notebook, but what's stopping me is the >> choice >> between WSXGA and WUXGA.
