Dreamscene & error decoding

I tried running dreamscene, and an error popped up. On clicking on the
little bubble, "The video file format is not supported, or there was an error
decoding this video file" I realize this is a 'preveiw' but it sounds like
others have gotten it to work.
I'm using a Radeon 9800 pro.

RE: Dreamscene & error decoding

I am having the exact same problem.
Intel Dual Core 3.0Ghz
Nvidia 7800 GTX

I'm thinking it's a codec problem?...

Re: Dreamscene & error decoding

is that trying some of the samples that come with dream scene or you video of choice.
does the video that crashes play with other video player.

Re: Dreamscene & error decoding

I also have tried stardock's "deskscape" extension, thinking that maybe it
was a problem with the original movie. However trying to play their sample
gives me the same error.

Re: Dreamscene & error decoding

The default movie that comes with the preview plays in Windows Media
Player...However, it errors when trying to use it in DreamScene.

Any *.Dream file (from stardock) shows the same error. I can easily select
a *.wmv file to use with DreamScene with no problems...

Re: Dreamscene & error decoding

Mel- So you still get the decoding error when attempting to play any other
movie besides a .wmv. I will have to try and see if I can get that format to
work. Is it possible that I'm unable to play the other videos due to a bad
codec of sorts?

Re: Dreamscene & error decoding

I managed to play several MPEG files until I tried a Madonna video. Explorer crashed.

Re: Dreamscene & error decoding

I tried that as well, and can run a .wmv file fine.. Its the mpeg's that
give the error, as well as the *.Dream file.
