| | Formatting Partitioned hard drive I have a laptop, and my hard drive is divided into a C and a D drive, the first time i installed Vista, i did the upgrade on my c drive, and it didnt work the right way, so i then did a clean install, but i wasnt thinking right and did it on the d drive because i thought i didnt have enough space on my c drive... now i have all the windows files on my c drive and d drive and id like to wipe the c drive out, format it, and remove everything does anybody have any idea how i can, cuz everytime i go to format the c drive, it says i need permission, and i dont know how to obtain this permission, Im the administrator, i thought thats all i needed p.s. i dont have the xp install disc, or the vista, i purchased through an online digital locker |

| | Re: Formatting Partitioned hard drive Even though Vista is installed on your D partition, it's boot files are on the C partition. You won't be able to format either drive from within Windows, you'll need to boot from the DVD, format, and reinstall the OS. -- ---- Crosspost, do not multipost http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 How to Post http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.db-pc.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Stephen" <Stephen@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:77562DAB-B4BA-45F2-A510-98FA7C65FC85@microsoft.com... >I have a laptop, and my hard drive is divided into a C and a D drive, the > first time i installed Vista, i did the upgrade on my c drive, and it > didnt > work the right way, so i then did a clean install, but i wasnt thinking > right > and did it on the d drive because i thought i didnt have enough space on > my c > drive... now i have all the windows files on my c drive and d drive and id > like to wipe the c drive out, format it, and remove everything > > does anybody have any idea how i can, cuz everytime i go to format the c > drive, it says i need permission, and i dont know how to obtain this > permission, Im the administrator, i thought thats all i needed > > p.s. i dont have the xp install disc, or the vista, i purchased through an > online digital locker |
