| | ModusLink Rejects COA as Invalid I received my new HP notebook on 1/16/07. I completed the online portion of the free upgrade and mailed the required documentation on the same day. ModusLink rejected the COA I submitted as being invalid. I've rechecked the COA on the sticker on the bottom of my laptop so I emailed them. I received a canned message back stating that the COA is invalid and to contact HP. I contacted HP who verified the COA I have is indeed correct and referred me back to ModusLink. I attemped to call them several times but the line was always busy. I finally got through, waiting on hold for 45 minutes until I spoke to someone who said they would have a supervisor look into this, call HP to verify the COA and would call me back within 3 business days. That was over 2 weeks ago. I have emailed them only to receive the same canned response I got the first time. I tried to call yesterday but couldn't get through because the line was constantly busy. I emailed them again yesterday asking them to not send the canned response but to actually look into the issue I am having. I called HP support as well and they said a supervisor would have to look into this. It has been a month now and my COA is still showing as invalid on the upgrade status site. What do I do now? |

You demand action. You call them, tell them you want something done and keep insisting. If they throw curves, focus and keep to the mantra you want the problem fixed even if you have to repeat yourself a thousand times. In other words, assert yourself. -- Saucy -- For email: guidsaucy at hotmail dot com |

My COA is not recognised, I had actually got as far as paying, when I got an error message from their site. Since then I get COA not recognised, even though they reset it! I have recently had an email saying that there are problems with the site and to retry in 5 days! Where did you find a phone number, because that is one thing I couldn't find. |

| | Re: ModusLink Rejects COA as Invalid It makes you wonder, huh? I have been, and still am overall, a Microsoft and Vista supporter but these licensing issues when someone has paid their money for something and then that something is constantly not delivered because of the new activation systems, you just have to hope that it bites Microsoft in the financial tail hard enough that they have to either re-think the idea or invest the effort to make it work.
