Network Problem

Running XP on two computers and VISTA on one. The VISTA can see the other
two, without a problem, and the other two show an icon in the workgroup for
the VISTA but can't access any files. I have set up file sharing and printer
sharing on the VISTA but the XP's can't even share that printer. I've been
fighting this for two days without success. Any suggestions?

Re: Network Problem

In Vista, did you enable File Sharing?

Go to Control Panel, click 'Set up file sharing' under Network and Internet.

Re: Network Problem

Doh! I read your reply and asked what you wrote in your message. Sorry
about that. Just getting tired here.

My XP computers here can access a Vista shared printer. Check the
Security settings on the printer (i.e. Everyone).

Re: Network Problem

This is the one that many people are missing:

"4. If they would like to access each by using the netbios name, make
sure enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. "
