yahoo voice chat

I also recently purchased a laptop equipped with Windows Vista Home Basic,
and cannot get voice in chat. Nobody that I have talked to so far has had any
luck getting voice. Could someone please help me figure out how to get it?
Your help would be much appreciated.

RE: yahoo voice chat

Same here - Do you think Yahoo has the answer? Would you know where to inquire?

RE: yahoo voice chat

If you go to yahoo messenger on main yahoo page, there is a place to register
to be notified when the messenger for Vista is released. I also wrote to
messenger help and received the following:

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Messenger.

We understand that you are unable to use voice chat or voice conference
through Yahoo! Messenger.

We are aware of an issue with Microsoft Windows Vista users not having
the ability to utilize the Voice Chat and Voice Conferencing features
through Yahoo! Messenger. Please note this does not affect PC to PC
calling or Yahoo! Premium Voice services through Yahoo! Messenger. Our
engineers are aware of the issue and are attempting to determine the
best course of action to resolve this issue.

We apologize for any inconveniences this has caused and appreciate your
patience while we work to resolve this issue.

We are very appreciative that you have taken the time to bring this to
our attention and would like to thank you for using Yahoo! Messenger.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Messenger.

Regards,

Mary

Yahoo Voice in Vista

Vista has a rewritten sound engine, and currently doesnot support yahoo voice notice on yahoos vista client page it never mentions voice as a feature I belive this has to do with the TSP codec that yacscom.dll calls for voice functionality. you may have better luck using a raw voice client that doesn't call the yacscom.dll, also worth a mention with all the inherent DRM in Vista this may be written so as to not be able to share copy written material by piping a song out to your friend IE..via wave output you can capure on the other end at any rate Microsoft has a habbit of shotting themselves in the foot and having no Idea of there client base, and quite frankly not caring at all they'll let someone else fix it and pipe it in as an update. My advice Stick with XP.
