| | search results in Vista with encrypted files. It looks like search in Vista is not actually indexing my encrypted files that live in My documents. Oops, I mean Documents. I've turned on the Index Encrypted Files option for search, but although most web advice implies that this option should allow my files to be indexed, it doesn't seem as if that is the case. I understand that if the search indexer runs under system, then how could it even have access to my encrypted files since it wouldn't have the key. But it's pretty useless if it can't search my encrypted files. And what a misleading option to say "search encrypted files", when it really means offline files or something. Any advice on how to improve the situation? TIA Knox |
