It seems that when I run the new Resource Monitor that my system soon becomes
totally unresponsive. I've even had to power off just to get it back
working. Is anyone else seeing something like this?

I would have thought so but when the desktop was hanging I couldn't get to
it. Now as I try to get it to happen, it won't but I've had it happen more
than once.

Firing up task manager is often a quicker and more reliable option
(ctrl-alt-esc)
Look in the 'Processes list' for processes hogging the cpu.
(if necessary add the cpu usage column via View > Select Columns )
Also click on 'Show processes for all users' to see system wide processes

That should have read [ctrl-shift-esc].

I've been able to get it to happen a couple of times. I open Task Manager and
start Resource Monitor then close the Task Manager. Wait a bit and then open
Task Manager again and try to do something with the desktop such as
right-click over Computer in the auto-hide task bar. In a bit perfmon.exe
will be showing using 99% CPU. Can't get it to happen every time but happens
often enough :-)
