| | "Your credentials did not work" remote desktop from Vista on Domain to vista non-domain offsite?? Does anyone know how to enable credentials to be saved in Vista when part of a domain (I think its the domain causing this not to work, as vista to vista inside the network works fine, or any xp to vista works fine as well).. Or its an issue with connecting to a vista machine which is offsite: I get this error: "Your system administrator Does not allow the use of saved credentials to log on to the remote computer" "Because identity is not fully verified" "Please enter new credentials" Of course entering them works fine... Thanks for any ideas... |

I can get into that machine using a Windows XP machine, but not a Vista machine. -- mattboy_slim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mattboy_slim's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=35953 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=688089 http://forums.techarena.in |

I didn't realize I was posting to a newsgroup. I didn't > realize I was posting to a newsgroup. I was quite surprised a few weeks ago to find some of my own messages on several online forums that I had never heard of! :>( Apparently, operators of those forums feel no guilt when they "slurp" threads from here on the Microsoft public news server and post the contents as though they originated on that forum. Perhaps no harm is done by this practice, and it does get our help distributed widely, but it seems kind of dishonest to me. And it can be harmful if a post is taken out of context or misinterpreted by a reader of that pirate forum. I'm sorry I can't help with your domain problem. I'm one guy with one computer and no net but the Internet. I know nothing about domains. RC -- R. C. From the GPO editor: In the policy Local Computer Policy Computer Configuration Windows Components Terminal Services Remove Desktop Connection Client "Do not allow passwords to be saved" Description: Controls whether passwords can be saved on this computer from Terminal Services clients. If you enable this setting the password saving checkbox in Terminal Services clients will be disabled and users will no longer be able to save passwords. [...] If you think that you should be able to save passwords in a domain environment you will need to talk to your domain administrator and convince that person to either remove the policy or exempt your specific machine. The administrator may have been the one to decide to impose this policy on users as a security measure; if you're part of a large enterprise the decision will more likely have originated in the information security office (and be harder to change). | | Re: "Your credentials did not work" remote desktop from Vista on Domain to vista non-domain offsite?? Not sure if someone is still reading this post but i'm having the same problem. When I connect from one server to another server (2008) through RDP i get the message "the saved credentials did not work...". I already tried all options: checked remote settings on both servers but they are fine, group policy is configured correctly and is updated with "gpupdate /force". The Terminal Services Configuration is also fine and has a valid SSL certificate but I still got the stupid warning (even after a system reboot :@). The server i'm trying to connect with is named 'mainframe2' but when I entered the full FQDN in RDP (mainframe2.corp.xxxxxx.eu) the message was gone and I was able to connect with my saved credentials again. The strange thing is that when I use mainframe2 I receive the message and when I use mainframe2.corp.xxxxxx.eu it connects right away. The certificate contains both names so this shouldn't be an issue. Is there anyone who can explain this? -- Temp123456789 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Temp123456789's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/temp123456789.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/688089.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
