Photo gallery crashes

Photogallery grinds to a halt necessitating restart. Tagging is fine and so
are slide shows.
A good program but unable to use it well

Most image viewers suffer from trying to open a file type they either
don't understand or a particular file is corrupt. The end result is to
take more and more system resources in trying to open it and end up
crashing the application, sometimes even Windows itself. This is
particularally true of video files who if you're downloading from some
binary newsgroup often have missing parts, or some kind of corruption.

If you download a lot of images from the web avoid saving them to a
folder where you already have good images sorted. If you download a
"bad" image, ie one who's header is missing, messed up or in some way
the file is corrupted it can wipe out all your thumbnails in your
database and whatever application you use will have to rebuild it from
scratch. Unitl you find which file is causing your viewer grief it
will freeze at the same point until that file is bounced, ie get it
out of that folder.

There are other things that can cause image viewers to crash but what
I just described is pretty common.
