Updating (x-posted)

I posted this in the Windows Update group but it seems that nobody knows
anything down there. So here it goes,

I have a 4th generation Apple Ipod connected with firewire to my Windows
Vista computer. I found that when I had the Ipod connected to the computer
it would randomly reboot. Windows found that there was a patch for an
IEEE1394 issue in Windows Vista. After downloading the manual installer
(KB929762) and running it, Windows says that "This update does not apply to
your system", it then closes the installer. How can I force this update to
install? I am logged in as an admin and have
full access to everything on the machine.

I know that I can connect the Ipod with USB but I would like to use my
Firewire and leave my USB port for flash drives and other quick use stuff.

Any help is appreciated,

Lars

Re: Updating (x-posted)

Could you have selected the wrong version - i.e., you're trying to get 64bit into
a 32bit system or the other way round? I've done things that dumb, so I ask.

Re: Updating (x-posted)

I thought of that already,I too have done things that are that dumb. I will
try it again now that you mention it but I am sure I downloaded the correct
version.

Thanks for the idea,

Lars
