I think running in Single channel at the very most should only cost you
like half your performance but that's only memory speed, but that shouldn't
mean 7fps, you should still get in the neighborhood for 50fps with your
config. I don't know of a way to make a system run in Dual Channel.
I looked on the ASUS site and though I don't know which flavor of the P4P800
you have, they all are listed as being Dual Channel boards
http://usa.asus.com/search.aspx?sear...archkey=p4p800
I'll ask the obvious question, on the older boards you know you put the
memory in banks 1 &3 and not banks 1&2 right ? On the Asus boards, you
should have 2 blue slots and 2 black slots. You'll want to put them in the 2
blue slots if I remember correctly.
Something else you can do, is goto www.guru3d.com and download the SANDRA
2005 or Xl version and run the benchmarks. It will tell you how your system
compares to other systems. You can also goto www.futuremark.com and download
3dMark05 or 06 and run that benchmark and get a score and report back here,
you can also upload that score and compare it to other systems like yours
and see if there is a huge difference. the 3dmark's are mainly DX and not
OpenGL, so it won't tell you about problems with Doom3 or Quake4, but it
will let you know how your system is doing overall. So then you'll know if
it's just a Doom3 problem or a System problem.
