| | ALL Programs Folders > Upsdie Down Issue > NOT Resolved I posted this a couple of days ago but all I received was rhetoric and not whether a solution is available: Start> All Programs> Vista: Single programs are listed in Ascending order first, THEN folders, (in the middle of the list) in ascending order This is NOT how every previous Windows version was set up. All other versions were listing the Folders first, ascending order, and then single files/programs. You could also Right Click and select ascending or descending order. This option is NOT listed now. IS there a way to make my All Programs display with the Top Level Folders listed first, in ascending order, then single file/programs? |

Yes, but AFAIK you have to set it up manually. First, clear the "Sort All Programs by name" check box in the Start menu's properties: right-click on Taskbar > Properties > Start Menu tab > hit the Customize button > clear the "Sort All Programs by name" check box > click OK etc. etc. Now you can manually drag and drop the menu's various listings. They should stay where you leave them. -- Saucy -- Herod was delighted to see Jesus; he had heard about him and had been wanting for a long time to set eyes on him; moreover, he was hoping to see some miracle worked by him. - from Luke -- For email: guidsaucy at hotmail dot com |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: ALL Programs Folders > Upsdie Down Issue > NOT Resolved Unchecking the option to Sort the All Programs menu seems -not- to be an absolute fix... as I had done that and re-ordered my menu with folders first, but after 'cleaning' up the All Programs menu after I'd installed a new program or two... I later saw that Vista had re-sorted the menu back to the old Vista way. I too prefer the olde 'folders first' sort... I don't have to mouse so far from the Start button to get to the program shortcuts, which used to display at bottom of folders. Where's the best place to 'suggest' Microsoft improve our sorting options??? |
