That oes explain the MANY MANY Linux based application servers on the market that have CONTINUAL issues and problems. These are Linux machines that are designed to (usualy) so ONE THING and they can't even do that right! But that doesn't negate any of the countless rock solid machine either. YES, you can dev in Linux and have it be an absolutely nightmare. > No, Windows with its WPA, WGA, SPP, DRM, restrictive EULA's, > single-machine licenses, secret API's, data lock-in, hidden source code, > and forced upgrades, is the one that gives users FAR FEWER options. WRONG! Even with that all, I can still "copy" music and videos. All that means NOTHING to me or anyone with a brain to go around it. |

The average home user doesn't know what's "decent" and what's not - and Windows is supposed to be written with them in mind, right? > Even IF and when they do, it's nothing a quick and easy fix > can't....well, fix! And all too often an expensive fix, since most home users lack the skill to do their own Windows repairs. >> Deny all you want, I know it drives you crazy that we were there first. > Um...or something. > >> We also beat Windows to the IA-64 and the AMD64, too. I've submitted bug reports and small code enhancements and have contributed cash to FreeBSD, Vim, Icewm, Debian, and about a dozen other projects. >> Oh, I'm sure an axe could do the job. Whoops! Not a single sound emerged from my speakers. After a little investigation, I found that Vista disables media outputs that don't incorporate DRM, when you try to play DRM protected media through them." There have also been people in this group complaining about many, many other DRM-induced media difficulties. More than a few have complained about losing entire media collections because they didn't know they had to back up their DRM keys, too. |
