A POSSIBLE solution to correct SEVERE problems after installing Vi

If your computer has SEVERE problems after installing Windows Vista that
cripple it and render it completely unusable, you may want to do the
following to correct the problem:

1. Launching Vista in Safe Mode

2. Reinstall Vista (this will perform the equivalent of a "clean install"
but it will make your computer usable again!)

WARNING: Performing the above steps will ERASE the contents of your
Documents & Settings folder and your Program Files Folder. If you copy your
documents to any c:\XYZ directory, your stuff should be safe. About the loss
of all of your programs, there's no sense in copying them since their
registry settings will be gone after a clean install so you'll have to
reinstall them anyway.

Before I performed the above steps, my computer was left in a completely
useless state by the first Vista install, but the second install left it in
pristine condition. That being said, it is a drag having to have to
reinstall all my apps, but it's totally worth it to have a functional
computer again!

There are NO warrantees on what you read here. If you take these steps, you
do so at your own risk.

usefulness below.
