| | Vista and "Recently Changed" folder From "Owner" or "Documents" or even in the Recycle Bin, on the left-hand side of the screen there is a link that says "Recently Changed". That link goes to a folder which contains a list of files that were recently viewed. How do I clear this folder without actually deleting the files? And how do I make it so that Vista doesn't keep a log like this? Thanks in advance. |

| | Re: Vista and "Recently Changed" folder That's a shoucut to a Search in your searches folder, it not a list as such. You could try deleting it from your Searches folder (c:\users\<username>\searches by default) and removing the shortcut from the Favorite Links by right-clicking and selecting delete. | | I do have it unchecked from the start menu... and I also tried deleting the shortcut. But the shortcut comes back if you simply go "restore defaults" and everything is there again. Anything else I can try? Thanks. |

| | Re: Vista and "Recently Changed" folder This works for me: Open %userprofile%\Searches folder. Rename "Recently Changed" as "Recently Changed Items" or any other name. Then from the Favorite Links area, right click "Searches" and click "Remove Link" -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "idontknowtech" <idontknowtech.2mmu6b@no-mx.forums.net> wrote in message news:idontknowtech.2mmu6b@no-mx.forums.net... anyone? ![]() -- idontknowtech |

| | I tried your solution but that doesn't seem to do it. What I did right now is in Searches, I removed "Recently Changed". And then from the favorites sidebar, I also removed Recently Changed. When the folder Recently Changed is not in Searches, clicking Restore Defaults on the sidebar won't bring back that folder on the sidebar. But this is still not a good fix to the problem. When I search on my computer, I can still find all the files that are in the folder. Anyways, what I think I might do I see if I can use both xp and vista on the same machine, not sure if this is possible. Theres a bunch of programs on xp that arent compatible yet with vista that I still want to use, and at the same time I want to use vista for publishing. |
