| | I thought this was interesting ... As you all know, I am a strong supporter of Vista (albeit the stiff price), and was amused when I came along this webpage: http://badvista.fsf.org How do they expect to promote this idea and what makes them think that a company like Microsft can be successfully boycotted? I agree that Vista does have it's bad moments, but all versions of Windows do. In fact, all operating systems do. It's really a matter of how advanced such a system is. The way I see it, there's nothing worse than impeding the progress of useful technology, so doing this "Let's not use Vista" thing is a step in the wrong direction, since trying to instal and use systems such as Vista encourages hardware manufacturers to keep improving their products. Who wants to stop that from happening? -- Andy P.S. I've decided that a problem within Vista that causes one to feel disappointed is known as a Vistappointment. I suppose it could also mean an appointment involving Vista. |

| | Re: I thought this was interesting ... Andy, Just another Linux geek marketing site. It wouldn't matter if Vista were 100% defect free, which of course, even us Vista "subscribers" acknowledge is not the case; these folks would stll attempt to get folks to move to Linux. Heck, I don't have a problem with that because I'd bet, fully 99% of -casual- users who ever went through the installation and -configuration- of ANY Linux distro would come running back to Vista faster than one could say "See ya, wouldn't want to be ya." And... for all those Linux geeks who are getting ready to flame me; save the bandwidth... I have no problem with Linux as an OS. It's great, if ur a geek. And spare me the "my grandmother is running SuSE without issue." responses. Yeah, Grandma is running SuSE because you set it up for her. Give Grandma a SuSE CD and ask her to install and -configure- the OS... well, ah, no? Oh, and don't forget to give her the disk that came with her mobo, so she can get those drivers installed also. And do make sure Grandma knows about and can go out and get all those condoms she'll need to pile on her Windoze machine to "protect" it against the 200,000 malwares out there in the wild targeting her Windoze box. Of course she'll want to run some apps on that Windoze box, but getting those all installed is beyond the scope of this posting. :-) Cheers. > Lang > > "Andyistic" <abdyistic@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:%23pQcDvfWHHA.4632@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >> As you all know, I am a strong supporter of Vista (albeit the stiff >> price), and was amused when I came along this webpage: >> http://badvista.fsf.org >> >> How do they expect to promote this idea and what makes them think that a >> company like Microsft can be successfully boycotted? >> >> I agree that Vista does have it's bad moments, but all versions of >> Windows do. >> In fact, all operating systems do. | | Re: I thought this was interesting ... Valid point. And... I did not claim that Grandma -could- install any other OS...
