| | File sorting in folders, how to NOT? In XP, when I dropped a file, or files into a folder they would just go to the bottom of the list of files. This is handy, because you can see the files you have added recently, and sort them if you want to. In Vista, the files sort into the list automatically, and I don't see a way to stop it from sorting. There must be a way? Thanks for your help - FB |

| | Re: File sorting in folders, how to NOT? Jeffrey - Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it, but that method still mixes up the files I'm working with. I work with thousands of stock photos, some coming from suppliers and the web. Each day I dump new images into the folder. In my workflow, I always know that my recent downloads are at the bottom. In cases when I have modified a file, using the date sort method, they would mix with new files in my collection. This is a work in process folder - Thanks for your help, IM "Jeffrey S. | | Re: File sorting in folders, how to NOT? You can also sort by date created. It's not a column in explorer by default but you can add it. 1. open explorer and open the work in process folder you described. 2. right click on one of the columns (name, date modified, etc...) and select "more..." 3. click on "Date Created" That should add the "Date Created" column to explorer and you can now sort that way. | | RE: File sorting in folders, how to NOT? I agree, this is totally stupid. None of the suggestions so far fix the problem. This was never an issue in XP. The stupid sorting is also dynamic so if you add a file to the directory the computer starts sorting all over again, I just want the new files I add to a directory to go to the end of the list and STAY there unless i want to sort it. I sure would like a solution to this problem. "theFATboy" wrote: > In XP, when I dropped a file, or files into a folder they would just go to > the bottom of the list of files.
