Vista - Can't resume pc from hibernate....HELP!!!

I have anew Biostar Tforce 6100-939 motherboard with Award bios and Vista
Home Premium. I mistakenly pressed the hibernate/sleep button on the Start
menu and it did what it was supposed to do - hibernate the computer. But no
matter what key(s) I pressed I could not figure out how to bring it out of
hibernate. I even tried pressing the system unit power button once with no
results. I just turned off the pc, which I agree is not the correct thing
to do.

How do I wake it up? Is it a Vista setting, a motherboard setting, or a
bios setting. Help!

Check bios for S3 setting / power saving menu type stuff.

Enable anytihng that looks as if it mentions suspend to disk / S3

Just a shot in the dark here. Look in device manager properties/power
settings to be sure that "allow this device to wake the computer" is
checked.

Yes, the keyboard in device mgr has that option enabled already.
Should any key be able to wake it?

Check your motherboad manual. I believe you need to have pins 2-3 jumpered
on "JKBV1" for any kind of keyboard power-on function to work.

Tried that and it didn't seem to help.
ACPI in bios was set at S1 (POS) and the pc sort of hibernated but the fan
and hard drive were still spinning. I set it to S3 (STR) and then it really
hibernated - the fan and hd turned off and the power led flashed
continually. The keys and mouse did nothing as did the power-on button.
The reset button actually rebooted and recovered from hibernate with my
applications still running.

Not sure if this is how it is supposed to work but I wish the keyboard or
mouse movement would have the same effect.

Will you by chance have a Nvidia graphics card in your system because their
drivers are known to cause problem resuming from S3/S4.......

Hi Walter Cohen,

As mlai said it is a known issue with the current drivers. Your card is not
specifically mentioned but I know of others with the same card experiencing
the same thing. I received an email from NVidia only a few hours ago
advising the issue will be fixed in the next driver revision which will be
available to download in the next few days. (i.e. Check the download section
Friday afternoon). In the meantime, just press reset as you have already
been doing.

Although I do have an Nvidia-based card it is not clear that this is
the cause of my problems. The link you provided states that upon
resume from hibernate the screen still stays black. However, in my
case I cannot even get my system to resume from hibernate by hitting a
key or moving the mouse. And I can only get it to resume based on
pressing the reset button (which I should NOT have to do).
I think I have other, more basic underlying issues with being unable
to get out of hibernate.
It is either related to my motherboard and some jumper or bios setting
that is needed or it is something else - what I do not yet know.
