| | Re: Is it 64 bit on the Intel Core2 T7600 processor? You can use either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows with that processor. But unless you have some really compelling reason to use 64-bit, and you don't mind having even fewer drivers available to you, and don't mind not having even more technical problems, you're better off sticking to 32-bit. -- "prupp" <prupp69@newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message news:%23jYIypAXHHA.4384@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >I have Vista Ultimate installed on a Dell Core2 T7600 notebook but System >Information is stating that the System Type is 32 bit. > > Shouldn't Vista see this processor/system as a 64 bit system? | | Is it 64 bit on the Intel Core2 T7600 processor? I have Vista Ultimate installed on a Dell Core2 T7600 notebook but System Information is stating that the System Type is 32 bit. Shouldn't Vista see this processor/system as a 64 bit system? What am I missing?? I'm pretty sure I installed from my MSDN download, could that be an issue? I also have Open License media available. Thoughts anyone? Phil |

| | Re: Is it 64 bit on the Intel Core2 T7600 processor? You have a 64Bit CPU, but have the 32Bit version of Vista installed. Nothing wrong with that at all. But, if you want to go with the 64Bit OS, you would need to do a clean install. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com -- "prupp" <prupp69@newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message news:%23jYIypAXHHA.4384@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >I have Vista Ultimate installed on a Dell Core2 T7600 notebook but System >Information is stating that the System Type is 32 bit. > > Shouldn't Vista see this processor/system as a 64 bit system? | | Re: Is it 64 bit on the Intel Core2 T7600 processor? Thanks for the follow up guys ... its good to know that I have the right hardware ... I thought Vista was delivered as both 32 & 64 bit on the same media ... ? Am I missing an option during the install? or do I just have the wrong media?? | | Re: Is it 64 bit on the Intel Core2 T7600 processor? No, sep DVD. But.... you may have miss read something, what changed with vista is all the edition are on a single DVD . So you get Home Basic Home Prem Bus etc etc On one DVD. So you can buy Home Basic, get a new key and flick it into Home Prem. The driver problem was the reason I installed the x32 version but my hardware is 64bit compatible (AFAIK) so would there be any advantage in getting that version? Is it any faster? |
