| | domain user can't be local administrator? I hate two problems on the same way. I have one account "joe" that is a domain user on a windows 2003 server, and i want that he will became the local administrator of the computer "wstry". I tried to put it in the "administrators" with "domain\joe", but when i login, windows vista say that i don't have permission neither to change the desktop, and appear also a message telling me that the profile is temporary and at the end session i'll lose all settings (event 1511 and 1515). I tried to enter on a worgroup and then came back on the domain but the problem persist. In the system event viewer i find this: Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy Date: 02/03/2007 8.53.52 Event ID: 1085 Task Category: None Level: Warning Keywords: User: domain\wstry Computer: wstry.domain.xxxxxx.net Description: Windows failed to apply the Folder Redirection settings. Folder Redirection settings might have its own log file. |

I solved this, doing a system restore at yesterday. But the problem with no-admin right persist. I'm going to format and install xp, hope someone will however give me an explanation with this. P.S: other xp clients don't have problems. |

This won't work and has nothing to do with XP/Vista issues. You need to log into the local Administrator account on the machine and create your new user account from there.
