installing vista on a replacement PC

I am condsidering buying vista for my current pc, but may want to upgrade it
in a few months, does anyone know if I would be able to use the same copy of
vista on the new pc, or would I have to buy a second copy? any suggestions
appreciated! thanks Jane.

Re: installing vista on a replacement PC

If you purchase the full retail version, yes, you can move it to your new
system.

If you purchase the upgrade version and it's used to upgrade a full version,
yes, you can move it to your new system.

If you purchase the upgrade version and it's used to upgrade an OEM version,
then I don't think you can move it but don't trust me on this scenario.

If you purchase the OEM version, no you can't move it.

Re: installing vista on a replacement PC

Make sure you buy a retail version, full or upgrade and not an OEM version.

If you buy a full retail version, you can move it from one PC to another as
many times as you wish. The same is true for the retail Upgrade version.

If you buy an OEM full or upgrade version, then it is locked to the first PC
it is installed on.
