Just installed Vista business. Went to open defender and I received error

I could come away the obvious one of.. "It's not working" but....

I have Defender running under Vista Business with no problem at all, and
that's even with it attached to a Small Business Server system. Have you
checked the event logs to see what is reported in there?

I've noticed that Vista sorta hides the good old Event Logs away..... and
it's always the first port of call when a problem like this occurs!!!

Have a check and let us know what is being reported.

Re: Microsoft Defender In Vista

Here again, we have a piece of relatively NEW MICROSOFT software, MICROSOFT
DEFENDER, that won't function SMOOTHLY, effortlessly and easily with Vista.

So the guy is told to go look at the EVENT LOGS, which are allegedly HIDDEN
AWAY on Vista -- and chided that that's always the first port of call when
facing these glitches.

SCANDALOUS!

AND:

HILARIOUS!

Now he probably has to UNINSTALL Defender and then REINSTALL it so Vista can
give it the Nanny Bedtime Check.

Massa knows how many other similar programs from MICROSOFT he's going to
have to do that with.

Don't the people at Microsoft even talk to each other before they come out
with a new OS?

Then the guy is asked to check and report back -- essentially working as an
unpaid Beta Checker for Microsoft.

If only we could have an operating system that would please everyone eh?

I bet there are no problems at all with Linux or Mac OS (whatever version)
no crashes, nothing but 100% satisfaction from all users as long as they
don't use an MS product.

It makes people lots of money, so .....

Re: Microsoft Defender In Vista

Nope...

Dead Wrong...

I am a long-time Microsoft user -- all the way back to DOS.

I'm also a stockholder -- and this Gross Incompetence is no good for the
stock price.

Microsoft Goofs I Lose...

I wish they were competent enough to deliver a FINISHED product to Market --
rather than a Buggy Beta.

FINISH it, THEN send it to Market, and stop including useless CRIPPLEWARE.

Either take it OUT and lower the PRICE or work out cooperative deals with
Third Parties OR compete directly with them.

Perhaps Bill isn't minding the store closely enough.
