Family Tree program

Hi,

I have been using Family Tree Maker for my genealogy research for several
years now. But I can't get it to load with VISTA. I don't know how to
check for new drivers for it. Does anyone know where I can find such a
driver? If not, does anyone know if there is another family tree software
program that WILL work with VISTA?

Thanks,
Nancy

Re: Family Tree program

Programs don't have drivers, so don't hold your breath on that. Your best
bet might be to contact the people who make the program you're already using
and ask them what's up.

I found a Family Tree Maker forum

http://genforum.genealogy.com/tree/

I also found this on the Family Tree Maker home page:

http://ftm.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ftm....i=&p_topview=1

Sorry for such a long URL!

Re: Family Tree program

I've been using RootsMagic, upgraded from XP to Vista, and it works just
fine.

Re: Family Tree program

Family Historian has no problems in Vista - it uses GEDCOM as it's native
file format, so data transfer should not be a problem

No problem with long urls ... just click anyway. Thanks. I do have to look
into this later. Looks like some good advice. Trouble is I couldn't get it
to install at all. But then it is about 3 years old or more. Again, thanks
for the help.

Re: Family Tree program

Wonder why mine won't even try to load from the CD.

You don't say which version of FTM you are using. FTM 2006 works fine here
with a small
patch (something to do with PDF reports).

I believe that if you are using a version prior to v11 you may have
problems. I believe that FTM 2006
is v16.

Re: Family Tree program

Well, now I know. My version is just too old. I'm getting snowballed with
so many new things I have to buy to go with VISTA.
