no ethernet,no internet, so activation!

My Ethernet card is not supported (3Com 3C905C-TX) so I have no internet,
which in not a total loss in that I can still check out the Vista interface
buuuuut, the problem is that without internet I cannot activate! So I guess
I can only run this for 14 days total? If I re-install and use the same key
will it give me another 14 days? I checked 3 Com web site no help. I
emailed them, no help, I tried to install the XP drivers no help.
Anyone have a solution?
Paula

Re: no ethernet,no internet, so activation!

Your best bet then would be to install a compatible ethernet card in your
system that supports Vista.

Re: no ethernet,no internet, so activation!

Thanks Ted I'll consider that one although I think a Netgear brand which is
the same as the router would be preferable if I can find one that is
compatible with Vista.
Anyone using the Netgear GA311?

Re: no ethernet,no internet, so activation!

Paula - Netgear GA311 works fine !!
I was using it in my Win2K3 x64 Server system because it was fully
compatible. I have now purchased another one for Vista Beta 64Bit and it
works great. By the way - very reasonably priced at your local Staples if
there is one near you. .... John.

I have an SMC 1211 that works with Vista. Also my VIA onboard NIC works too.

Re: no ethernet,no internet, so activation!

Thanks Admin and Bones.
Office Depot and Circuit City are closer so I just got back with a Linksys
Line 100TX and a Belkin something or other. Staples is further down the
road. :-) I'm gonna try the Lynksys first and if it doesn't work then I'll
try the Belkin. If not it's further down the road I go to Staples! Not
many choices for Ethernet cards in these big boxes...isn't this fun?
