I have a similar problem I have discovered that the problem may be related to
the telephone socket into which my Broardband cable is inserted. When I use
an extension cable from my main BT line socket to my Broadband socket I
cannot connect to internet and get same screens as you. When I connect
Broadband cable directly into BT socket I get immediate connection and no
further problems. I am told by a BT engineer the the cables used by Bt in
Northern England cannot, with any degree of regularity, supprt the fast
download speeds now being offered by ISP's
