| | Outlook password won't save with Vista I cannot get MS Outlook to save my password since installing Vista. I have search the web and tried the reg fixes I found to solve this but they all pertained to earlier versions of Windows and none of them have worked. I am currently forced to use Windows Mail and it has no problem saving my password. I would prefer to use Outlook. Does anyone have a fix for Vista to make Outlook 2002 save my a-mail password? The really weird thing is that I have a Vista Laptop and Outlook on it saves my password just fine. I did the install myself on both systems and have no idea why it doesn't save on the desktop. |

| | this sucks. Outlook 2002: It runs, but email account passwords are not saved. After you enter the password during the first email check, Outlook will remember it until you close down Outlook. This is because Outlook used the protected storage interfaces to store passwords and these are no longer supported in Vista. Unless Microsoft decides to create a publicly available hotfix to address this, you won't be able to save passwords. Outlook 2002 is outside of mainstream support so this is unlikely to happen as it's not a critical security hole. Note that when you enter the password, the Send and Receive that brought up the password dialog may fail but future send and receives will work. Leave Outlook open 24/7 to avoid entering it frequently. EggHeadCafe.com - .NET Developer Portal of Choice http://www.eggheadcafe.com |

Only 2003 and 2007 are supported. Agreed it sucks. -- Priceless quotes in m.p.w.vista.general group: http://protectfreedom.tripod.com/kick.html Most recent idiotic quote added to KICK (Klassic Idiotic Caption Kooks): "DRM is not added to anything in Vista."
