| | Vista printing to W2K3 server shared printer I'm trying to get a newly upgraded Vista box to print to a printer I have on my W2K3 server machine. It's an HP printer and HP suggested to install the printer as a local one and then add a TCI/IP port and point the printer to the server. When I try doing that it keeps on failing to find the printer. Is there something I'm missing? EggHeadCafe.com - .NET Developer Portal of Choice http://www.eggheadcafe.com |

You're using the IP of the W2K3 machine? That doesn't sound right. How would it know which printer to print to on the W2K3 machine? That would work if the HP printer had it's own print server and was on your network. I'm assuming the printer is shared? What happens when you try to install the shared printer in a normal fashion? |

| | Re: Vista printing to W2K3 server shared printer I agree with you! I was trying to figure out if I was missing something. I try to add it as normal and it says that the server doesn't have a compatible driver. HP did not give me a driver I could load on the server so, I'm in a bit of a quandry. | | Re: Vista printing to W2K3 server shared printer You shouldn't need to rely on the driver being on the server. Vista comes with the driver you need: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=71896&lang=en Try doing the install again and see if there's an option for manual driver install.
