If you want to test it then you can turn the indexing service off. |

Or better yet, go to the Indexing control panel and look at the status. If it says "Indexing complete" then it's probably complete, if not, then it's probably not. -- Insert something clever here. |

| | Re: Is indexing running at the moment? I stand corrected. That's a better idea. I didn't even know there was a status. Where is this indexing status located? I found an Indexing Options in the Control Panel but it doesn't seem to display a status, only the number of files indexed and that indexing is slowed due to user activity. -- And loving it, -Q ______________________________________________ Qu0llSixFour@gmail.com (Replace the "SixFour" with numbers to email) |

| | Re: Is indexing running at the moment? That is the status. This means it is indexing but slowly because it has detected user activity. Leave if for a minute without moving the mouse and it will switch to "Indexing in progress", and then eventually to something like "Index is up to date". However, it might be easier to use TaskManager {elevated} and look at the CPU of all SearchIndexer / SearchProtocolHost / SearchFilterHost processes to see if they are loading your system. However however, as soon as you start using the mouse of keboard the indexer reduces its activity so I would doubt that it would be causing a performance problem. You found it (Or Start --> Search --> "index" will usually find it) When it says "Indexing is slowed due to user activity" that means it's actively indexing your system, so the index is not yet complete. That text will change to "Indexing complete" once the indexing is complete. -- Insert something clever here. |

| | Re: Is indexing running at the moment? Microsoft's Process Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...sExplorer.mspx will tell you what is going on. View | Select Columns | Process Performance | CPU history will set up a display that reports on the past minute or so.
