I'm prepared to stand corrected, but I wouldn't have thought that the OS would get involved in controlling the fans...? That must surely be a hardware/bios issue?? I suppose it IS possible that Vista is making higher demands on the system, and so raising the temperature/setting the fans off more(??). Have you tried turning off the high demand graphical functions (if they are currently on) temporarily and seeing if that makes any difference?? Have you looked in the bios settings to see if there is a 'quiet' mode or something? -- Regards, Chris. (Remove Elvis's shoes to email me) |

I have never had an Abit motherboard, but Asus have AI-Quiet 2 in the BIOS to control fan speeds. There must be something like that in the Abit BIOS or some Abit software. Otherwise the OP could try something like Speedfan or something more simple. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php ss. |

Usually these features work at a BIOS level, perhaps with supporting software tools, eg. ASUS QFan and the ASUS AI Tools. I expect Abit have something similar. |
