Window previews on the task bar

There's a feature of Vista where you hover the mouse over a task in the task
bar and it's supposed to display a small window with a preview of that
task's window (or so I believe). However, on my Ultimate x64 machine it
mostly just displays a little window with the task's icon in it. What's the
point of that? Surely it's not meant to work like that?

Re: Window previews on the task bar

I'm not using the 64 bit version, but on the 32 bit version this feature is
only available if you have the Aero Theme enabled?

Hi Ronnie,

Yes, I do have the Aero Theme enabled. Some of the taskbar items get a
proper preview and others (most in fact) just get a little window with their
icon centered in it. Quite useless really!

I figured it out. The ones that get a proper preview are not minimised at
the time. The ones that just get an icon are minimised. THIS MAKES NO
SENSE! Wouldn't it be more logical to preview something that isn't already
open?

I can further add that it only happens after switching between Aero themes
and other themes. Before switching, the task bar previews work properly so
it's definitely a bug.
