| | No mapping between account names and security IDs was done I am running Vista Ultimate and I have a WD network storage device attached to my home network. I can map to the drive, I can write to the drive etc., etc. But the real purpose of this drive is Backup. The problem is when using Vista's Backup Utility and try to use the network storage device I am presented with a logon screen (not sure why since the directory is public and I was not required to login when i mapped the drive). Anyway, after typing in my userid and password I get the following message... "The network share could not be accessed for the following reason: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done. (0x80070534) Please ensure that the network location is valid." Any help would be appreciated. |

Well I figured out my own problem. When I was presented with the login dialog box from Microsoft I decided to use the "guest" account that is built in to the Western Digital NET-CENTER and the password that I assigned to the private folder in NET-CENTER. So, if anyone is using Windows Vista and attempts to use the Backup Utility and you have a WD Net-Center hard-drive use the following when signing in through Backup... USER ID: \\WD-NETCENTER\guest PASSWORD: "your password" Hope this helps. |
