I can't get java based chat to work with vista

I have gone through this board and i have DL the verson of java that was
reccomended here and i am STLL not able to get into my Java based chat rooms..

I go to the Java propertys tab and there is NOTHING on there that allows me
to say i am using vista.

I need to be able to use these chat functions on a regular basis. I hope
someone can help me out here !

you need java runtime for endusers (JRE ) to be able to use Java in Internet
Explorer for chats and stuff like that.

Java 5.x is running on Vista, but is not AERO Capable - so Vista switches to
basic mode if such a app is launched,

Java 6.x is both Vista and AERO-capable.
