All I see is Vista and that is everywhere I look. The Sunday paper is full of products, hardware, software all kinds of stuff for Vista. I don't even see Linux mentioned anywhere. In fact, the only place I ever see mention of this Linux is in Linux groups where the people seem to have all drank from the same pitcher of.......... KOOLAID! http://gopvixen.blogs.com/gop_vixen/images/kool_aid.jpg |

And the volume of sales of Vista (and its predecessor, XP) can be attributed to their being bundled into hardware sales of major OEM's, making the actual unit price of Vista being heavily discounted when compared to the advertized prices that Microsoft had paid to magazines, newspapers, etc., to print. Remember, all Linux has to do is to follow the same playbook that Bill Gates and Microsoft and wrote 25 years ago to take over popular computing. |

You read a hard-copy Sunday paper? How quaint. > I don't even see Linux mentioned anywhere. > In fact, the only place I ever see mention of this Linux is in Linux > groups where the people seem to have all drank from the same pitcher > of.......... > > KOOLAID! Linux, crop circles, global warming, diversity, anti-smoking, etc. Those with low self-esteem subsume their miniscule personalities into the goals of the group. It gives their life meaning. They can then take their mind off their own meaningless affairs by minding the business of others. |

Humm, even giving away CD's with magazines hasn't worked. And don't forget that 25 years ago there wasn't an installed OS base. Now let's say they did use that playbook AND there was considerable financial reward for being number one, THEN maybe in 100 years give or take, there may be a "Linux" desktop on a majority on the PC's. On the other hand, perhaps we just wait and see if there is any "desktops" in 100 years! |
