| Guest | Can't run windows update - error Hi all, Anyone else run into this one? New install of Vista Business (32 bit) - I think the only things I've installed are drivers for my devices, Office '07, and Firefox. I've suddenly found I can't launch Windows Update, or some other windows components. Specifically, the Live Update control panel does absolutely nothing. I still get the alerts saying there are updates available (have it set to prompt me first), but clicking on the notification gives me this error: window title: ::{21ec2020-3aea-1069-a2dd-08002b30309D}\::{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8} Window text: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel. Aside from the fact that there isn't a 'set associations' control panel ,I've got no idea what type of file it's trying to open, so that I could try to associate it with the right application. Any ideas? |

Well, it doesn't seem like a firewall issue - as I said originally, I can't even start windows update - it's not like it starts & then fails, it won't even launch at all. |
