Windows Vista itself does work. So I'll go on it being the hardware under
powered or just junk.

Depending on where you are in the world you might want to get the computer
refunded for not being suitable for the purposes of which it was sold, in
the UK and the rest of the EU we have legislation to be able to do that.



If you want a computer for gaming, ask the supplier or manufacturer what the
Windows Experience Index score is, if you're doing gaming you'll want a 4
bare minimum (2 or 3 if you're just doing simple card games and the like),
and 5 if you want to play current games at maximum details.

Did you buy it from the back of a van ?
I just got a Vista Box from a Retal Outlet (Fry's Electronics), and it works
great.
Every Game I've loaded runs
My Development Software Installed (Visual Studio 2003 & 2005) and both work
Was also able to make a dual boot system with XP Pro, (I'll be removing XP
from it as I"ve not needed to boot to XP yet)
And with Virtual PC 2007, I can even run my older games that wouldn't even
install on XP by creating a Win 98 VPC for playing my older games.

And if your computer is not compatible with XP, then it's not compatible
with Vista, given that the Requirments for Vista are HIGHER then XP.

So it sounds like you got taken for a ride by not knowing what you were
buying.

Yea...every game manufacturer is going to re-write their titles released in
the past 2-3 years for Vista....suuuuureeeee! I can just see that

It's up to Microsoft to support the software for their OWN operating system,
and that is something they completely failed on with Vista.

I can almost excuse the driver problems. Not quite...but almost.

But ya know what? I absolutely cannot excuse not supporting existing
*windows* software on a new version of a *windows* operating system.

Especially games are products that don't see continuous updates. Just
because a game is 3 years old does not make it bad and a newer release of
it is not necessarily better (if a newer sequel even exists).

Does there have to be a cut-off point somewhere where it just has to be
said "This is too old...it may not run" ? Sure. I'd consider Win9X software
a reasonable cut-off point but not XP software!

I've still yet to find any of my games that don't run with Vista.

When is Vista going to work? In my experience, about 45 minutes after
I started installing it.
