Some people forget: VISTA IS NT!!!!

Guys please.. must I educate you all?
You either are ignorant or forget too easily!

Vista is NT,

NT 4 was NT 4.0
win2k was NT 5.0
XP was NT 5.1
and Vista is NT 6.0

Windows95, 98, and Me was windows 9x...

the NT and 9x is the kernel of the OS...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_NT
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_9x

as long as you remain on the same kernel ( and bit architecture- meaning
32bit or 64bit) compatibility should be high... this means that:

win98 could use most win95 drivers (which it could!!!)
and XP could use windows2000 drivers (which it could too!!!!)

and that also means that DREADED VISTA should be able to use XP drivers!!!

Why cant it? I ask you??? What is the HIDDEN REASON of this incompatibility?

Is it perhaps to FORCE the people to start buying new hardware and software?
WAKE UP!
Vista could have been made to work with XP drivers!! They chose to not do
so!

its a VISTA problem created by the design of the OS, not a "vendor" problem
as the vista fanboys postulate! Of course now it IS a vendor problem because
MS threw the ball to the vendors and they have to catch it!
Because MS can do whatever it likes, it puts the burden on the vendors to
keep up
with whatever MS likes.

GESH!

While the statement is generally true you are still wrong because I sense
you are coming from the same direction as the other thread. As you were told
before, there were many devices that remained incompatible with XP for a
long while. Just because your ONE machine worked fine does not mean the
same happened with everyone else.

Wait? WHEN did you install XP?

That sounds like false logic.

Seeing as how more and more drivers are released weekly.....NO!

reply I have to you.

Justin will you please realize that I would love Vista to be an extremely
good OS?
Im not an MS hater... I want tools that would be superb.. and an OS is a
tool for me.

You never answered my WHEN question. You think you're the only one that
deals with hundreds of computers? When XP was RELEASED there was major
driver issues. You will not convince anyone otherwise.

Ok, you're not a MS hater. That's fine. I didn't say you were. Vista can
be 99.8% stable with the right hardware. If you want Vista to be stable
across the board then WAIT.

More and more drivers are released WEEKLY!

He didn't do anything wrong. kirk is at least able to have normal
conversations unlike you. In fact we're having one right now. This will be
a good test for you, try to join in without acting like an ass.

Give it a shot!

Re: Some people forget: VISTA IS NT!!!!

I couldn't agree more! I really love some of the Vista features, but it won't
run the simplest of software. The compatibility mode appears to have broken
when they developed Vista.

Re: Some people forget: VISTA IS NT!!!!

I got my first XP computer in early 2002... I dont remember exact date...

Vista will get there with drivers... I dont worry really about that...

My main problem about vista is resources (which that too will be solved with
new milticore machines)
and the GUI ( that cannot be changed to much even with a service pack)

If it was around mid 2002 then that would explain the whole problem!

XP was released in '01. It took a good 6 months to straighten out most
drivers. Most claim a full year for all issues.

So, as was stated, when XP was first released, drivers were a nightmare.
Not all! Don't get me wrong. Many drivers worked. However to compare W2K
to XP versus XP to Vista....there is no real connection.

> Vista will get there with drivers... I dont worry really about that...

Then they're no problem?

Yeah yeah yeah...Linux can operate all functions of a shuttle to pluto and
back on an 8086. ;p
