| | Re: word and excel documents in Vista? Can you open Word or Excel and open the documents? If so, you might check to see if you can right click and select "Open With..." and select the appropriate program and check "Always use this program". -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com -- "Roon5" <Roon5@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news 0E9DBF2-D16A-4C9A-B5F0-0BE915CDD712@microsoft.com...> Can't seem to open word or excel documents in vista either in my E-mail or > external drive? They have never been available for download for free. You can purchase Word and Excel separately from Office. If you don't wish to purchase the programs, you can download and install OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org which can read and save in earlier Office formats. If all you need to do is look at the files then the viewers will be enough. Word and Excel are not free (you have to pay for them) and they're not really downloadable--unless you have huge bandwidth and a lot of time. -- Bob http://www.kanyak.com |
