| | Sidebar gadget error Hello, New to the post so if the topic has been covered and someone can link to another post that would be great. Anyway, I recently had to preform a roll-back on Windows Vista and when I did I noticed that the gadgets in my sidebar were not displaying correctly. For example, the RSS Feed was completely invisible and the clock was now monochrome and displayed no numbers and the hour and minute hand were at 12:00pm regardless of the time. I can install completely new gadgets (ie. the calculator downloaded from MSoft webstie), but as for the other gadgets they are useless. Even if I choose to uninstall them and reinstall them they no longer function. Any suggestions? |

| | RE: Sidebar gadget error I have the same issue happening to mine. The clock is currently a black square. The currency gadget shows up as a white rectangle with one of those information (i) icons the center and a plus sign on the bottom right. It does nothing. The Calculator I downloaded as a test appears, but the buttons do not do anything other than press. The settings button next to the gadget does not work, but the x to close does. I noticed one other thing outside of the sidebar broken with this. In computer management, Services, the extended tab. It only has a blue L shape across the top left to right. A little services cog icon in the top right and thats it. No extended information there at all. Curious if you found a solution since your post is a few days old and I've just hit this myself. Thanks. | | Re: Sidebar gadget error Greg, See if this helps: Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER Navigate to the following branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 Make sure that the value data for "1400" is set to 0 (dword:00000000) Close Regedit.exe If that above is already set to "0" and yet the problem persists, there might be an XML related problem in your system. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "Greg V" <GregV@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news 9F4CEA3-3C3B-427E-BF0E-9F52ECD3FD85@microsoft.com...I have the same issue happening to mine. | | Re: Sidebar gadget error Ramesh, thanks for your quick reply. Under Zones\0\1400 entry is set to 0. Taking a look at the other zones, all of them have that value as zero except for zone 4 which is value 3. I agree there maybe an XML error. Any chance you have a fix? ![]() Oh.. this Vista Ultimate 64bit. Thanks again. Greg.
