Vista Upgrade

Hi Guys,

I bought a PC recently with XP Pro on it. I also got a voucher where I can
upgrade to Vista. I checked it out and for a postage & handling fee only, I
can redeem the voucher and get an upgrade DVD from Microsoft.

Is there any way I can do a clean install with this DVD? Im not sure what
options you get. Id rather not take up the offer if I cannot install a
fresh copy, iv never had much success with upgrades!

Thanks for your help

Chris

Typically, yes, but Vista is a major exception. All retail
versions have the same DVD install disk -- only the key
determines which version you are entitled to validate after
installing. You can install any version from the DVD and
try it for up to 30 days if you install without using any
key at all.

And yes, that means you can certainly do a clean install,
and I'd recommend exactly that.

Re: Vista Upgrade

Don - That is true.

Chris - Happy key finding if that's the route you take.

Re: Vista Upgrade

Try a Google on:

[Clean install VISTA from upgrade] <s>

See the first item by Paul Thurrot. PAy particular attention to the
first paragraph of his Step 1

Good luck since I've not actually tried it myself so come back and tell
us how you get on <s>

Re: Vista Upgrade

I am still waiting for my upgrade, but can someone tell me the benefits and
disadvantages of a clean install. I currently have MCE on a computer I have
had for about a month. I have transferred all my files and documents on to
this computer.

Thank You
M

Sorry but I don't understand what you are trying to say in the context
of the thread.

Re: Vista Upgrade

Do a search on Google, there are several ways to do this.
