| | Cannot burn DVD with Windows Vista Hi, I've a Samsung DVD-RW SH-182M that seams to work fine, installed in Windows Vista Ultimate edition. I can read form it with no problems. But when I tryied to burn a DVD movie with Windows DVD Maker, when I select burn, it shows a Windows message box saying: "DVD burner not found A DVD burner was not found. Make sure a DVD burner is connected and installed, and then try again." I haven't installed any burning software, because I think it is not necessary. Is this true? If so, why Windows doesn't reconize the DVD burner (device), when it reconizes it for all other operations? Do I need to update the device driver? I already looked at the Samsung web site but there is no driver download. I found a firmware download, but even after installed it the problem exists. Does anyone knows what's happening or could help me? Thanks, Benedita |

| | Re: Cannot burn DVD with Windows Vista Hi, What sort of drive is it being shown as in Windows Explorer? DVD or DVD RW? If it's not showing as the latter, then there is a problem in how the drive is being reported to Windows. As you've already tried a firmware update, I would next try uninstalling and reinstalling the device. Otherwise, you may need to contact Samsung about this issue. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Benedita" <Benedita@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news C5199DB-F64E-4F90-BD4E-C54A37BCB64C@microsoft.com...> Hi, > > I've a Samsung DVD-RW SH-182M that seams to work fine, installed in > Windows > Vista Ultimate edition. > I can read form it with no problems. > > But when I tryied to burn a DVD movie with Windows DVD Maker, when I > select > burn, it shows a Windows message box saying: > > "DVD burner not found > A DVD burner was not found. | | RE: Cannot burn DVD with Windows Vista I had a similar problem with the same burner (coincidence only, the problem persisted with other burners too!) and, after lots of trial and errors, discovered the problem was with a cable connected to the second IDE conector that went to a LED display on the front of the computer (where some computers display the temperature, what devices are being used, etc.). This cable was to report when the DVD burner was being used. This was a 2-pin cable and when I disconnected it from the IDE connector the DVD began to burn correctly. Hope this helps!! |
