Firewall and/or defender turning off

Sometimes find that MS firewall is not on. Happened this AM when I came in.
I turned it on, and just now when I rebooted, it was again off. Same thing
with Defender this AM, but when I rebooted just now, it stayed on. This
problem is driving me nuts. Also, defender did scan at 2:00 even though I
have set it to run at 11:00 AM. Could Live OneCare be doing this? If not,
where should I go to find out why this is happening?

Re: Firewall and/or defender turning off

Live OneCare disables Defender.
Leave Defender OFF.

Re: Firewall and/or defender turning off

Sorry, but has no effect. I disabled defender and re-booted. Firewell was
off. Also, when defender is off, and I run ad-aware, I get hits. With
defender on, the objects field in zero. Looks like defender works, leaving
it off has no effect on firewall - my main concern.

Bob, if you are using Live OneCare under Vista, OneCare will
automatically turn off your Windows Firewall and Windows Defender:
Why? because OneCare does both and more. Windows Live OneCare has a
better firewall, it has an antivirus and anti spyware. Also, if you
have OneCare, why are you also using Adaware?
