Destination Folder Access Denied

Hi all:

Today I restored some files from a zip file stored on a DVD archive. The
files were extracted with the folder path to my desktop, and now that I have
gotten the info I needed I want to delete the folder. However I get a
"Destination Folder Access Denied" message when I try to delete.

I tried to go into the file properties and uncheck the "read only" button,
but no joy. I also went into the advanced security tab, and took ownership
of the folder, but it still won't let me delete.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks.

Re: Destination Folder Access Denied

Hi,

The "read only" attribute has nothing to do with it.

What is the folder path?

Re: Destination Folder Access Denied

Hi,

Actually, if it's on the desktop it would be
C:\Users\<username>\desktop\Microsoft\Sysbuilder\MCE, but that's besides the
question. Have you tried deleting from a command prompt? As you can access
it, it may be that your permissions aren't full ones, if this is the case
you will need to adjust them in the folder's properties.

Re: Destination Folder Access Denied

Can you give me a hint as to what permissions I should change?

When I open the folder properties, on the "Security" tab I am shown as
having all permissions, and when I click the "Advanced" button on the
permissions tab I show up as having "Full control". Seems to me I should be
able to delete?

Re: Destination Folder Access Denied

Hi John,

One would think so, but check the owner tab to see if it is you or another
account.
