| | Re: URGENT - BLACK SCREEN Hi, Your monitor resolution is set too high or in a range that it cannot handle. Boot to Safe mode by hitting F8 and try changing it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "matt547" <matt547@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C9CC5078-1F0B-4D67-9353-DF333322E595@microsoft.com... > it boots up as it usually does gets to where the grey snake goes across > and > after that it comes up black with the monitor displaying the error of "Out > Of > Range" 35.4Khz/87Hz > > PLEASE NEED URGENT HELP ON HOW TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM!!!! |

| | Re: URGENT - BLACK SCREEN Out of range errors usually refer to the monitor's refresh rate..since the error is also quoting a refresh rate in Hz I would say go to safe mode and set the refresh rate to something lower 75Hz for a crt monitor, 60 for TFT or LCD My guess is that you are using an LCD monitor and havent installed drivers for it. | | RE: URGENT - BLACK SCREEN Mine was doing the exact same thing. Reboot your system and hit the F8 key durring boot, you will get an options screen that allows you to select "Low Resolution" boot mode. Select that one and Vista will boot normally at 640 x 680 resolution, once you get booted up you can run windows update and it will grab the video driver you need to get your system running with your LCD at normal resolutions.
