| | Vista Home Premium and Software RAID Hi, I purchased an ASUS P5L-VM 1394 board after viewing the ASUS product page and discovering that it had RAID 0,1 etc. However, after having difficulty fining the drivers for the board I was told by a support member that the board does not have RAID and that it is a mistake on their specs and marketing ![]() Therefore, can I ask: I've heard its possible to have a software RAID. Is this possible in Vista 64bit (Home Premium)? And if so how do I set it up? Thanks for any help. Cheers, Gary |

| | RE: Vista Home Premium and Software RAID Hi GazzaS Why should you jjump through hoops trying to achiveve what a vendor falsley told you your board would do? Send it back - it was erroneously sold to you and they have admitted that. It is their fault and whether you have used the board or not you have legal entitlement to the correct product. | | Re: Vista Home Premium and Software RAID GazzaS stated the advert quoted the false spec - that is misleading advertising which is against the law and his local trading standards office would support him in enforcing the vendor to refund or replace with the correct goods. Even under the rules of distance selling (ie via the internet) if the vendor makes a mistake in there advertising - they are responsible for correcting the error. The vendor does NOT have any ground to stand on. If the mistake had been GazzaS's - it would have been as you say. GazzaS, go speak with the vendor - get it changed or refunded. If they won't - get trading standards on to them - the nearest office to them whoever they are. | | Re: Vista Home Premium and Software RAID Hi Guys, Managed to return it back to the shop with a letter from Asus stating that it is there mistake. Had to pay £7 for delivery which is a pain... apparently Asus do not have a complaints department so I cannot get this back. I can write to their legal department in China.... but after the cost of Air Mail its not really worth it. Bought a new Gigabyte board which had great reviews... the only problem is that the LAN diver now throws errors when I try and connect to my Media Center extenders (see my post in microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter). Why is nothing ever easy ![]() Cheers, GazzaS "Drew" wrote: > Davg they wont take it bakc thewy may exhnage it but there not going to > refund him he needs to do it thorugh microsoft because I order a copy on > line and ask if thera probl;em do I go through him and he said no only > through microsoft. > "DaveG" <DaveG@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:17BE3B74-A9AC-41B8-B773-5F94FB3E9C82@microsoft.com... > > GazzaS stated the advert quoted the false spec - that is misleading > > advertising which is against the law and his local trading standards > > office > > would support him in enforcing the vendor to refund or replace with the > > correct goods. > > > > Even under the rules of distance selling (ie via the internet) if the > > vendor > > makes a mistake in there advertising - they are responsible for correcting > > the error. > > > > The vendor does NOT have any ground to stand on. | | Re: Vista Home Premium and Software RAID Hi GazzaS Well done, knew it wouldn't be too difficult in the face of their error. Drew clearly thought it was software you were trying to return instead of a motherboard, clearly Microsoft would never re-imburse for a motherboard.... Shame about the LAN driver - I can't help there. Best wishes... Dave "GazzaS" wrote: > Hi Guys, > > Managed to return it back to the shop with a letter from Asus stating that > it is there mistake.
