Upgrade XP (Czech) to Vista (English)

After running the web based upgrade advisor on the machine it told me I could
run Vista. Being the owner of licensed XP I chose to Upgrade - Home Premium @
$159. During upgrade I'm told sorry can't change language !!!

I managed get installed and running by skipping the Product Key stage. But
now when I try to register I'm told the license I have is for Upgrading, not
Clean Install. I''m trying to upgrade...and I chose "clean install" during
the install process !

How can I complete my registration without spending ANOTHER $200+ ?

VISTA Ultimate is the only one in which you can change the display
language for VISTA itself.

Do a search here on MUI or Language Pack and you'll find several
threads.

Re: Upgrade XP (Czech) to Vista (English)

But I don't want to "Change" the language, I want to do a "clean install" of
Home Premium.

Are you telling me my only option is to spend another $250 on top of the
$150 I've already spent after being told by the "Upgrade" Advisor that I
could run Vista?

Perhaps I misunderstood you since gave a subject of:

Upgrade XP (Czech) to Vista (English)

and in the message you said:

> During upgrade I'm told sorry can't change language !!!*

Now you say you don't want to change language.

So what do you want to do? And say exactly what you did -- did you
remove XP first or what? Have you at any point entered the KEY and
authenticated or tried to authenticate the VISTA installation?

Kindly remember that you are not addressing Microsoft here but other
users of VISTA. If you don't like what you have to do, take it up with
Microsoft.

Re: Upgrade XP (Czech) to Vista (English)

Apologies for the prior tone... frustration! I've counted to 10

My actions:

I have a laptop running XP (Czech) I want to load Vista (English)
I ran the Upgrade advisor which indicated an upgrade was possible.
I purchased Vista Home Premium - Upgrade

I did NOT uninstall XP
I ran the Vista installation choosing the clean Install option
It prompted that the upgrade would be disabled but it allowed me to proceed
- I can't recall what the outcome was at this stage but I re-ran the
install at some point

I skipped the registration entry stage and Vista is running.
When I attempt to register I'm told that this version is for an upgrade.

So, what I'm figuring is that the Upgrade Advisor was misleading, it appears
you cannot upgrade from a non-english language. Correct?

Is there any way of registering the version I have installed?

If not, what version of Vista would I have to purchase to install on this
machine?
