| | Problem with Vista's Internet Explorer I have a new PC running Vista Ultimate connected by ethernet cable to a Belkin F5D7632 wired/wireless router. My old XP machine, which is on the same desk as my new PC, is connected to the same router via a Belkin wireless connecter. When I access some websites, my old PC has no problems, but Vista cannot process some pages - e.g. when trying to buy a ticket on www.virgintrains.co.uk I can get onto the home page but not find trains - it just 'hangs' and that green indicator progresses very very very slowly, and nothing happens. My old PC is fine with the same webpage. I have noticed this with some other websites too - that blue circle timer just goes round and round! Also, my Skype calls often drop off after 4-5 minutes. So, if my old XP machine is working fine with the same webpage, it must be Vista, since both machines are connected to the same router? Can anyone help please? Are there any updates for this? -- Thanks very much for your help. Steve |

It's possible a number of these sites have not yet updated for IE7 compatibility. As to Skype, have you checked with them, their website for updated software compatible with Vista and any other necessary updates they might have posted. -- Michael Solomon |

| | Re: Problem with Vista's Internet Explorer i've noticed a lot more script errors since going from xp ie7 to vista ie7. maybe its just me. although most sites still work fine, just an error message. i have java 6 and flash installed. any other thirdparty addons i should know about? or is it just like you say websites not having updated yet? steve "Michael Solomon" <user@#notme.com> wrote in message news:Ocs6aPNbHHA.2552@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Steve wrote: >> I have a new PC running Vista Ultimate connected by ethernet cable to >> a Belkin F5D7632 wired/wireless router. The smallest error in code can cause it and if you didn't receive the error message, you might not even know such an error existed on that page. You can turn off script error reporting. In IE7, go to Tools, select Internet Options, go to the Advanced tab, be sure the options to display script errors, I believe there are 2 such options, are NOT selected, click apply and ok. Yes, it could be the sites have not been updated or it could mean the sites have been updated but there's some bad or unrecognized code on the page which is triggering the script error notification. -- Michael Solomon |
