This is a hardware error. Have you checked to make sure the drivers for all
your devices are up to date?

Re: System Crash on Backup

I've seen one other report of Backup causing a bluescreen and it was caused
by the video driver. I'm pretty sure it was an nVidia driver but I don't
have my email available to check. For the previous report, the driver was
going to be updated via Windows Update.

Are any of your drivers, beta drivers, it should state so at the driver
download site. If yes, that would certainly be a likely candidate.
Unfortunately, there wouldn't be much you could do beyond using some other
means of backup until the driver is updated. If it's not the graphics
driver as Jill Zoeller mentioned in this thread, you might try disabling or
otherwise removing devices one by one and testing to find out which device
is causing the issue.

Re: System Crash on Backup

Thanks Mike & Jill
I did find a newer nVidia driver for my nVidia GeForce Go 7200

Driver 12/07/2006 7.15.10.9746 updated to
Driver 01/13/2007 7.15.10.9759

But unfortunately same crash results ...

Thanks
Tony

Re: System Crash on Backup

Keep watching for an update...the email I have from nVidia was in March so I
assume there will be another update.

Well, I know this isn't going to help much but the error message you
originally posted specifically references "nvstor.sys," this is an nVidia
issue and apparently even their latest drivers don't address it.

When I checked their website, I only found XP/2000 drivers for the GeForce
GO 7 series so I'm assuming the drivers you have are still in beta and that
indicates, nVidia is still in development on these drivers. The offer the
following link for submitting bug reports:

Re: System Crash on Backup

Thanks Mike
I was already there http://www.nvidia.com/vistaqualityassurance and filled
out a report...
The new driver I updated to was on the HP support site..don't know if it's a
beta?

You're welcome.

HP may be simply be offering the best driver available right now. At the
Dell site, they have posted a message that on some of their Vista systems,
not all hardware or software may be fully supported as yet. HP is in the
same boat. There are clearly still problems with that driver though you
might contact HP support for a better answer.
