No sound after installation of Logitech QuickCam

Before I installed the installation program for Logitech QuickCam on Vista
Home Premium, I lose the sound reproduction. I connected a JBL active
speakers and working correctly. Can someone advise any possible causes and
fixes.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott:

There may be a better solution, but what I do when this happens is I go into
the Control Panel, under System and uninstall the sound drivers and then
reboot. Windows finds the correct driver (or you provide it on a CD) and
things are configured properly again.

Don't do the above unless you are comfortable with the process. You can do
more damage than fixing things if you do it wrong.

You could uninstall the web Cam software (and then unplug the Web Cam).
Re-Boot and plug in the web cam and Vista will find it's own driver.

When Logitech tries to tell you to install its own software (and Windows
Update will tell you to go and get the Logitech v10.x driver) DON'T.

The camera will work fine as a web cam without the software. The Logitech
drivers were buggy even on my WinXP Pro machine and I gave up on them. The
software ain't that wonderful anyway and was a huge resource hog.

In Vista it is running fine and doing all the Skype things I wanted.

Note the Logitech software puts it's own Mic and speaker drivers on board
and it is those that have screwed up your normal sound that was working.

If you have Skype, then there is a good tool in there to test and set up
your speakers and Mic and get everything going properly. Assuming you are
using OnBoard sound and not a sound card, also check your MoBo for latest
sound drivers for Vista. If you have an ASUS MoBo, then they put out a new
Realtek HD Audio manager package a few days back. Works a treat and I have
a Logitech Ultra Vision Cam running

Re: No sound after installation of Logitech QuickCam

Tom,

Thanks for your advice. I think I understand the process but I do not have
the driver for Realtek high definition audio since nowadays all pcs do not
have recovery disc. If I uninstall the audio driver, the driver itself is
still in my pc so the pc will find the driver and install it after reboot.
If that is the case, I will do it right away. Could you please confirm my
understanding.

Thanks,

Scott
